In my previous post I discussed why I think that automation is very important, and I argued that it shouldn’t matter whether we save time or not. I have received some feedback about it and I wanted to make some corrections.
Tools focus
I stated that tools should not focus on execution time, but rather on debugging and creation time. Peter Lewis (the creator of the excellent app Keyboard Maestro), corrected me in saying that when the user is actively waiting for the automation to finish, it does matter that it runs fast. That’s completely true, and something I missed in my previous post.

What do you know? I thought I had a pretty comprehensive list of reasons to automate, but I still got some more:
